The acquisition of KARS’ Advanced Materials, a full-service materials testing laboratory and technical consulting firm based in Anaheim, California enhances ESi’s current capability offerings and will help meet growing demand in the region, particularly in the areas of materials, mechanical and electrical engineering. KARS’ Labs founders, Dr. Ramesh Kar and Dr. Naresh Kar, collectively bring nearly 80 years of failure analysis experience, serving clients across a wide breadth of industries.

The KARS’ acquisition also extends ESi’s national network of laboratories, providing clients in southern California with local access to a well-equipped materials testing laboratory which offers 4K digital light microscopy/borescopy, scanning electron microscopy with EDS, FTIR/Raman/XRF Spectroscopy, metallography/materialography, mechanical testing, 3D – Computed Tomography, 2D X-Ray radiography, and electrical testing capabilities.

“Our relationship with the KARS’ team goes back years, as we have been frequent clients and guests in their lab,” said ESi President and COO Will Pinkston. “During that time, they have consistently demonstrated top-notch technical skills and a high degree of professionalism. We’ve gained mutual appreciation for one another’s technical work and the common cultural thread that exists between our firms. We also see significant opportunities to take advantage of these synergies to further enhance the services we provide to clients.”

“This investment reflects ESi’s continuing commitment to providing clients with best-in-class services that are tailored to meet their needs—including convenient access to local expertise and facilities, backed by a national network of resources,” said ESi CEO Mike Seyle. “At the same time, KARS’ clients will continue to benefit from the firm’s focus on technical excellence, while gaining access to highly complementary service offerings spanning a wide range of technical disciplines and geographic locations.”

The KARS’ acquisition closed on October 3, 2022. To reflect this exciting change, KARS’ Advanced Materials Inc. will now be known as KARS’ Testing & Research Labs, a division of ESi. For more information, visit www.engsys.com or www.karslab.com.
